With the school year fast approaching,
already underway
the wells of inspiration
leaving me deserted
drought land dried up
but more than the words disappearing
iman dips lower than
temperatures on a windy desert night
desires, nafs controlling actions
pushing me away from the crystal waters of Jannah
concealing the sweetness of its fragrance
And suddenly I’m hot hot hot
vivid visions of Jahannam
And still no change in behavior
Rabbana la tu’akhidhna in-nasina aw akhta’na, Rabbana wa tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bihi wa’fu anna waghfir lana wairhamna anta mawlana fansurna ‘alal-qawmil kafireen, wa qina ‘adhaban-nar

I like this! what do those last words mean?

    • Thank you for your kind words! The last part is a prayer made up of verses from the Qur’an:
“Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error. Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith.” [2:286]
“…And save us from the chastisement of the fire.” [2:201]
